Should You Give Your Kids Promotional Toys?
Parents and children are heavily marketed to in this day and age on the internet, television, radio. When the average parent wants to get away from the barrage of advertisements and take their child to a restaurant or family friendly destination and the marketing continues when their child is given a free promotional toy.
In today’s busy world, many parents have asked if promotional toys are safe to give their children and the answer is yes but, it all boils down to the following criteria:
How is it Made?
Promotional toys that are made for major, brand name restaurants like Burger King or entertainment destinations like Disneyland or LEGOLAND are generally safer than promotional toys that you might receive from other companies. Why? Major corporations take the time to test their promotional items and make sure that the toys they give to their customers children are age appropriate, safe and won’t pose any health risks.
Moving Parts
If your child is under the age of five years old, you should first examine the promotional toy to make sure that it doesn’t have any moving parts that could become a potential choking hazard. Some companies who choose promotional toys to give away might not think about this and it’s up to the parents to be diligent when it comes to their children’s health and safety.
Plastic Wrappers
Another important thing to do when giving a promotional toy to a child under the five is making sure that it’s removed from its plastic wrapper before a child starts playing with it.
If All Else Fails, Play With It
The simple, fool proof way to insure that it’s a safe toy is to try it out for yourself to make sure that it’s safe for your kids to play with. If the toy is “flimsy” and can’t withstand a few minutes of you playing with it then it’s not safe for your kids to play with.
